Shoe Gaze 03:21
Shoe Gaze An inspired melody from an experimental band no one knows about lost in 10 million songs. After the gig crossing the parking lot in the deserted town, getting into the beat up Subaru never to return. Play your flute sound little elfin birthday child. Spicy tofu and kimchi waiting when your song ends. What’s for dessert? Fresh shoe gaze with frozen art sauce and pink noise sprinkles.
3.
Frail 03:22
Frail I am a dry trembling twig I fall from the tree and I am run over by a Ford F150. If I were clinging to my life as a fallen twig I’d be miserable. But it hasn’t been so bad. The chuckling of chipmunk children is the last sound I hear as I wash away in the waste water.

Look 2 C 05:07
Look to C The sun and earth are not found in books or on an iPhone 14. Dive into the sea of harmony and distortion and if you can, discover the sun and earth in the bathroom mirror. The spring flowers are speaking. The summer light hums. Even the cold beer and warm noodles have something to say. They say they have found the sun and earth.
5.
Hardly 03:20
Hardly All things are made of tiny particles. Cheerios float in a bowl like little life preservers. The universe is expanding but no one knows why. All the music ever recorded by the band Yes can fit on a micro SD Card. Compared to the sun the earth is pretty small.
6.
Self Doubt 04:07
Self Doubt I don’t believe myself anymore. I’ve loosened up on hopes and dreams. I took my freakout to PetSmart and bought it a squeaky toy. Now I write mediocre poetry and compose off-key music. Who knows when the show will end. It ends soon enough.
7.
Scutigera 04:48
Scutigera Scutigera is a house centipede with 15 pairs of long legs. It moves fast and can scare the hell out of you. If I were small enough I’d ride it holding a sewing needle to spear fleas and ticks and feed them to Scutigera.
8.
Box With Tubes Human beings make machines, but no one knows how to control them all. I don’t know what the knobs and switches are for. I program my toaster-oven and pretend I am in charge, but actually I know nothing of the secret circuits and wobbling wheels of artificially intelligent robots.
9.
Hotel Room Hum The hotel room in Montreal was in a trendy neighborhood. The furniture and bathroom were very trendy. The trendy people who designed the hotel did not notice the strange modulating hum in the wall. They did not know that it could be heard clearly in the quiet of the night.
10.
Lost Information Who is calling me? I don’t know. The voice mail caller says “I’m actually calling to inform em now” What was it that I needed to know? The information is lost but that’s ok. Now it is a song.
11.
Afterthoughts No one standing in the laundry shop was hugging a cat. Twelve roosters are arranged on a large disk and taught to crow on the hour. This was a last chance meeting of the original and the fake. Perfection isn’t part of the plan so afterthoughts are marked in green. The fog was clearly spelling out the names that had been verified. She was told to act normal which caused a freak out. Now I’m waiting for my robot to be upgraded. A pile of gravel can be thought of in several different arrangements.

Chip Cookie 06:36
Chip Cookie Where the waves of sound break the ear or foot can not follow; When the mind gate is opened, nothing can stop the transmission.  Relaxing the hand, not relying on memory, with no plan that can be set, the notes have crossed. Chocolate chip cookies sprout legs and march towards the mouth of nirvana.

about

I've been writing poetry for many years and did a reading for some friends who knew my music well. It was suggested I add my spoken poems to my next album which was already in progress. Usually poetry over music is not a great idea unless you are Laurie Anderson, but I decided to give it a try. I performed this material twice at local venues and the audience was amused.

This is my most experimental album so far. I focused on contrasting combinations of synthesizer sounds along with other recorded samples. The track "Lost Information" is based on a voice-mail recording and "Hotel Room Hum" was recorded using my laptop's mic in the middle of the night in a hotel room.

The “Box with Tubes" concept came from a cardboard construction I made that contained a small cassette boombox. The boombox was set up so the speakers faced tubes that could be positioned to separate the stereo effect. The plan was to use this in art gallery or installation of some kind. I created the track "Box with Tubes" with loud synth sounds with heavy stereo separation. The cardboard construction is shown on the album cover.

As for the poems, I’m interested in questioning myself and answering those questions if I can. Is it possible to look into the source of one’s own thoughts? Is it possible to confront one’s own anxieties and lack of understanding and transform that into something positive? Is it possible to know without doubt that mind, body, self, other, world and empty space are all the same thing? The moon circles the earth and eyebrows are above the eyes. The question becomes what. This, that and what are the wobbling wheels of my poetry.

I do not know if this album fits in anywhere or makes any sense. That is the exact job description of an experimental artist. The most important factor is that I simply love making music. I love my Moog synths, I love Ableton live, I love Push, I love guitar effector pedals, I love my Mac Book Pro and all the wires and connectors and the endless possibilities.
